We are firm believers that mascara should last through anything and everything – because who knows what the weather’s going to do or where your day will end up.
Luckily, MAC has just released their super popular False Lashes Mascara in a new waterproof formula!
Its double-lush brush delivers twice as much pigment and gives the perfect velvety finish and deep black colour that is such a must. Now we can have those long luscious lashes that we love no matter what the elements are doing – perfect timing for winter too…
The iconic Audrey Hepburn did chic and wet (with perfect makeup) best in Breakfast At Tiffany’s.
Our model of the moment is Ollie Henderson! With a unique style and personality that is addictive on and off camera, this newly brunette babe is definitely one to watch. We caught up with Ollie about Sydney life, her career highlights and more.
Where do you eat, stay and relax in Sydney?
My favourite chill zone in Sydney would have to be Yullies. It’s a vegetarian restaurant/cafe/bar on Crown St in Surry Hills. They have an excellent courtyard out the back, complete with astroturf, and the friendlies staff around.
Career Highlight so far?
Shooting my first Vogue cover was a big highlight. We flew to Greece and stayed in a small beachside town for a week. Ate amazing food and meet great people. Any job with good food and good people is always a winner.
Style Icons?
My style icon at the moment is Molly Millions. She’s a fictional character from the William Gibson novel Neuromancer. If you don’t know this book, I imagined her style to be Trinity from The Matrix meets raver cyberpunk.
Describe you style?
A good friend of mine recently described it as Space-luxe, I was quite happy with this.
Sydney’s Hidden Secret?
Shortlist cafe in Darlington. Or maybe just Darlington in general. I was staying there in my last trip to Sydney and was surprised how many people don’t know this suburb. I guess there isn’t that much there that you would make a day trip out of it, but it’s great place to live, and Shortlist is ace!
Plans for the next six months?
My plans never seem to be what will eventuate, my job takes care of most of my plans. I will be on holiday later this month in Barcelona for Primavera Sounds. After that I will return to my houseboat in London (where I live most of the time) and take it from there. I do foresee there being quite a bit more time spent in New York laster this year.
Your wardrobe staples?
Goggles, I have a collection of goggles. I feel like they might give me superpowers when I wear them.

Forget about body-con and perfect-fit-tailoring – the new trend is about keeping it loose.
Shell tops, shift dresses and oversized boyfriend coats create clean and simple lines for winter. The beauty of these shapes is in their simplicity. Boxy styles in bold colours or monochrome make a statement of confidence and sophistication.
Less is more with this trend so don’t go to fussy and over-accessorise. Keep it simple with classic hues and if you feel you need a little more shape, pair an unstructured separate with something more form fitting or tailored.
This double breasted coat with contrast sleeves creates strong, clean lines, paired with a simple shift dress and roll-neck it is simple and elegant.
If the autumn/winter 2013 shows from Alexander Wang, Derek Lam, and Victoria Beckham are anything to go by, it’s time to step away from the foundation, eyeliner and lipstick. For the perfect no makeup makeup look this winter simply invest in these four key products.
1. Tinted Moisturiser or BB Cream: The ultimate beauty trifecta, they’re packed with SPF and keep skin hydrated all day long, with a bonus golden glow. Plus they’re brilliantly buildable, meaning you can easily layer the product to cover up unwanted redness, like around the nose, chin and t-zone, without the product looking patchy or uneven. Try: Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream Sensitive RRP $17.49
2. Clear Lipgloss: Once you’re done prettying up your pucker, use as a highlighter along the top of the cheekbones, the brow bone and the cupids bow. Try: MAC Clear Lipglass RRP $38.00
3. Clear Mascara: A product you probably haven’t used since the 90’s but two coats is all you need to give your lashes just the right amount of shine and definition. Once you’re done coating your lashes, use the excess product on the wand to groom your brows, or tame fly-aways around your hairline. Try: Maybelline Great Lash In Clear RRP $17.99
4. Cheek Stain: Look for a creme-based stain as unlike a powder, creme’s are easier to blend on-the-go, all you need is your index finger and skin is left with the prettiest, dewy flush of colour. Try: BEECA Beach Tint RRP $59.00
It’s time to ramp up the drama! Winter shows its romantic side with sheer lace, intricate detailing, dark rich colours and alluringly feminine silhouettes.
Bold and captivating red lace makes a statement for winter while black lace details give the dark season a gothic edge.
Make lace work for off-duty by teaming lace detailed merino with unstructured denim or give your look a shot of dark glamour by pairing long-sleeve lace with a floor sweeping maxi dress for a dramatic winter evening look.
Forest Green lace and a black maxi dress make a striking pair Long-Sleeve Lace Bodysuit (coming soon), V Back Crepe Maxi Dress
Red lace is a bold and glamorous choice for winter evening wear. A lace panel detail sweatshirt dresses down the romantic trend for day.

Lustrous jacquards and sparkly embellishments are some of our favourite fashion pieces right now. So much luxe and detailing can be a little bit hard to wear regularly, as it naturally lends itself to evening and party attire, but we love to incorporate it into our usual wardrobes for work and weekend too! It’s a great way to inject a touch of glamour and fun. We like to pair luxe pieces with simple classics and lightweight layers to play it down.
A pair of attention-grabbing brocade shorts don’t have to be reserved for Saturday night. Team them with a classic cable knit jumper and a simple turtleneck to tone down this look-at-me piece. Let your legs play a starring role by keeping it reserved and simple up top.
While we love a white-on-white look, it can sometimes look a bit too clean and pristine. Toughen it up and add a little fun with some lurex and stripes. A monochromatic base outfit lets this jumper stand out. Also nothing looks cooler than black boots with white denim as the weather cools down.
Sometimes this luxe aesthetic does need to be given full attention and committed to 100%. If you’re feeling particularly daring, pair a brocade pencil skirt with this show-stopping embellished bralet. Layer with a classic black blazer and a solid belt to add some masculine refinement.
All black doesn’t have to be boring, not when there’s lurex involved. This sheer metallic pullover is perfect to pair with those on-trend cropped pieces. Teamed with classic black trousers, it’s a look that’s as simple as it is cool.
Peplum tops and pencil skirts were made for each other. It’s a combo that looks so chic and pulled together, not to mention it’s such a feminine silhouette. We love the idea of adding some luxury to such a classic look with some gold brocade. Again pairing it with a masculine belt to enhance the shape and break up the print. Suede loafers keep it a simple and elegant look for work.
Make a long silhouette interesting by playing with layers. Half-tucking an slouchy beaded top into a maxi skirt really enhances the great things about each piece. A simple sleeveless blouse underneath adds some subtle structure.
